Fashion designer Anna Sui will create a new Gossip Girl-inspired collection for Target, for girls who like to dress as Brooklynite characters Jenny Humphrey, played by Taylor Momsen, and Vanessa Abrams, Jessica Szohr, because they have a similar background to her.

“I love the punk-rock style of Jenny,” the designer admitted at ACRIA’s “Unframed” event. “And she has the bangs, just like me! I relate to her style most [because] I was the Brooklyn girl in high school.”

But she will not make styles to Blake Lively’s Serena character or Leighton Meester’s Blair Waldorf, she answers,

“Blair is very girly and has very girly clothes. That’s very much like my line as well.”

The line will be available in the Fall 2009, and is the first discount line for the A-list fashion guru.

“My line is now going to be available to girls all over and at a price people can easily afford. I think it’s a really good thing, especially with what’s going on in the economy.”

The collection will launch on Target.com and at 500 Target stores nationwide September 13, 2009. The affordable fashion collection will be available through October 17, 2009.

At this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, there is a clear battle raging between “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Twilight” for the title of Best Movie. Both films scored big with moviegoers and celebrities, so MTV News rounded up a bunch of famous folks to ask them whether they’re on Team Twilight or Team Slumdog. Although most people were fans of both, when it came time to make a decision, it was Team Slumdog for the win. For them, the Oscar-winning film really seemed to capture the essence of what they love about movies. But, of course, there will always be those steadfast, card-carrying Twilighters.

Taylor Momsen: “I would pick ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ It was totally not what I was expecting. The little boy in the beginning was so cute. I couldn’t handle it.“

It seems like everyone on “Gossip Girl” has caught the music bug. Leighton Meester has her upcoming solo album. Ed Westwick is in the Filthy Youth. Chace Crawford is about to get “Footloose.” And the show’s resident rocker grrrl is Little J herself, Taylor Momsen. Momsen and her band the Pretty Reckless were recently signed to Interscope and are working on tracks for their new album, which Momsen tells MTV News is inspired by everyone from the Beatles to grunge bands like Soundgarden, Audioslave, Hole and Nirvana. And maybe a little Joan Jett.

“I can keep going,” she said about her influences. “It’s really exciting, ’cause it’s a vibe that’s not necessarily filled right now.“

Although the up-and-coming rock star, whose look is inspired by some of her favorite musicians, is only 16, she has quite an impressive amount of musical-history knowledge.

“There’s a couple [of women I look up to]. I have so many female idols,” she said. “Debbie Harry I think is brilliant and Joan Jett and Cherie Currie did their thing. And I think Courtney Love worked it out in her time. But Debbie Harry by far is just brilliant.”

Momsen is also completely hands-on when it comes to working on the music: “I write it all. I’m completely involved. You’re hearing my life, so you’re hearing my diaries. Have fun!“

Momsen has already written most of the songs for the album and is now “working on all the little details. But we’re on tour right now with the Veronicas,” she said, adding that her live show isn’t exactly what people would think. “You’re gonna get a little bit shellshocked. It’s definitely not what people are going to expect. It’s rock and roll.”

While Meester is focusing on electro-pop, Momsen said she chose to make rock music because it felt the most authentic for her. “I love rock and roll, man. It feeds my soul,” she said. “It’s what fits me, and it’s how I can express myself.” And what does Momsen think of her fellow “Gossip Girl” co-stars’ music?

“Well, it’s very different. I haven’t heard a ton of it, so I’ve heard only what you guys have heard online. It’s great,” she said. “Everyone does their thing.“

Taylor Momsen’s band - The Pretty Reckless - will release their first LP this autumn. The band’s debut album will be released by Interscope Records, Access Hollywood reports.

“Taylor has an incredible presence and when she decided to make Interscope her musical home we were thrilled,” said Jimmy Iovine, the chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records.

The Gossip Girl star said in a statement that partnering with Interscope and Iovine was “an honour“.

The Pretty Reckless are scheduled to go on tour as the opening band for The Veronicas on a 24-date schedule which begins on May 9 in Nashville. Momsen’s co-star Leighton Meester also recently signed a record deal with Universal Republic and plans to release an album this autumn as well.

Gossip Girl Star Releases Debut CD this Fall. Interscope Records signed 15 year-old singer -songwriter Taylor Momsen, star of The CW’s popular television series, Gossip Girl. The Momsen fronted rock band, The Pretty Reckless are scheduled to release their full length debut cd this fall. The Pretty Reckless will support The Veronicas on the road commencing May 9 in Nashville, TN.

Momsen, who has been recording in Los Angeles, Nashville and New York, shares album writer credits with Toby Gad (Fergie, Beyonce, The Veronicas), James Michael (Alanis Morissette, Motley Crue) and Kato Khandwala (Paramore, Morningwood). In addition to co-writing all the songs, Momsen fronts the band, singing lead vocals.

“Taylor has an incredible presence and when she decided to make Interscope her musical home we were thrilled,” said Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records. “I’m so excited to be among the talented and respected artists signed to Interscope Records. Momsen, who stars as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, began acting professionally at age three. In 2000 Taylor starred as Cindy Lou Who in How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Recently Taylor was named one of the most beautiful people in the world in People Magazine. Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester have both been involved in musical projects recently — and now Taylor Momsen is the latest of their co-stars to pack up her microphone and take to the road. The 15-year-old fashionista, who plays Jenny Humphrey on the hit show, has officially announced that she’ll be taking her band, The Pretty Reckless, on a 24 date tour, then releasing an album.

Taylor, who will be supporting the Veronicas on the dates across North America, will share writing credits on the debut full-length with Toby Gad (who has worked with Fergie and Beyonce), James Michael (Alanis Morissette, Motley Crue) and Kato Khandwala (Paramore, Morningwood).

The tour kicks off in Nashville on May 9, and The Pretty Reckless’ CD will be out in the fall on Interscope. Now we’re just waiting for the news that Kelly Rutherford is releasing an electro pop EP.

Most actors who venture into music tend to do so with catastrophic results. For every Juliette Lewis or Milla Jovovich there are dozens of Keanu Reeveses (Dogstar!) and Jared Letos (30 Seconds to Mars!) churning out wretched tunes that could only be described as aural Gitmos. But the debut last night of Pretty Reckless, a band fronted by Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen, did not suck at all. On the contrary, that girl can actually rock.

Playing at the Annex, a club in NYC’s Lower East Side, before a small army of girls at who probably should’ve been home much earlier on a school night — much like Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey, did in an episode last season — Momsen delivered a set more befitting a rock star who dabbles in acting, not the other way around. Looking like Debbie Harry and singing like Kim Carnes doing Karen O., Momsen showcased the potential to build a following among those who’d feel more comfortable listening to L7 or Sleater-Kinney than relating to any character on Gossip Girl.

Pretty Reckless took the stage around 9:30 P.M., and no one seemed to know what to expect. Was she going to go the cheesy pop route of early Alanis Morissette? Or was she going to do something to guarantee her next tour would be with the Jonas Brothers?

The band kicked in with no-holds-barred punk riffage, and Momsen led the way with a raspy roar, delivering semi-banal lines with ferocity: “I la-la-la-la-like you / I la-la-la-la-love you / I used to ha-ha-ha-ha-hate you / NOW I REALLY F-CKIN’ LOVE YOU!”

The youngest Gossip Girl star at 15, Momsen’s already signed with IMG models, but admits that her height (5′8”) can make it hard for her to find jeans that fit. “I have a really strange body,” she told Vanity Fair. “I’m tall, but I’m all legs, like three-fourths of my body.”

Actress-turned-singer Taylor Momsen is so determined her band look stylish on their first tour, she is designing the group’s stage outfits herself. The Gossip Girl star is preparing to hit the road with her rock outfit Pretty Reckless and is currently drawing up sketches with designer Jen Kao to ensure her bandmates look the part.

She explains, “I’m actually designing all of my costumes. It’s a rock band, so there’s not costume changes but there’s definitely a look.” But Momsen won’t be following in the footsteps of celebrity designers like Gwen Stefani by selling the line to fans: “I only really design for myself. It’s really fun.“
